Toasted Tomato Sandwich with Herbed Cream Cheese

Ingredients:

For the Herbed Cream Cheese:

  • 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon Gourmet Inspirations Veggie Fusion garnish (Sea salt, sesame seeds, onion flakes, herbs/spices)

For the Toasted Tomato Sandwich:

  • 8 slices of your favourite bread (whole grain, white, or sourdough)
  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • Herbed Cream Cheese (from the above recipe)
  • Butter or margarine, softened

Steps:

  • Prepare the Herbed Cream Cheese: In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the Gourmet Inspirations Veggie Fusion garnish until well combined. Set it aside.
  • Assemble the Toasted Tomato Sandwich: a. Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface. b. Spread a generous layer of the Herbed Cream Cheese on one side of each bread slice. c. Arrange the fresh tomato slices on half of the bread slices, covering the cream cheese layer.
  • Put the Sandwich Together: a. Place the other slices of bread, cream cheese side down, on top of the tomato slices to form sandwiches. b. Press gently to ensure the sandwiches hold together.
  • Toast the Sandwiches: a. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. b. Spread a thin layer of butter or margarine on the outer side of each sandwich. c. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the bread turns golden brown and the cheese is slightly melted.
