Fried Mashed Potato Balls

1 cup left over mashed potatoes

¼-½ cup shredded cheese of choice

1 egg

2 tbsp. Bread crumbs

Panko bread crumbs for breading

Grated parmesan and green onion for garnish (optional)

2-4 cups of vegetable oil for frying

Dipping sauce options:

Optional: Add bacon bits and chives.


  1. Warm mashed potatoes just enough to handle with your hands.
  2. Mix in egg, and cheese and optional ingredients (feel free to be creative here!)
  3. Shape potato mixture into small balls.
  4. Roll in panko.
  5. Heat oil to med/high and fry balls until crispy on the outside. 
  6. Place in 400F oven for 10-15 min. To ensure inside is fully cooked.
